Have you ever had a friend who was starting a new business and thought that they were going to be millionaire in no time, with no risk and no work? When everyone around them can see there is a fatal flaw in the plan or that they are missing reality!!!
Well I hate to admit it, but that is me. I have been convincing myself of the following:
• It won’t be snowing (even though I have never seen snow and would love to see snow) when I do the Camino.
• If it is snowing, a jumper is all I need, since I will be walking I won’t get cold
• I am strong and good at lifting weights so 10kg’s is not much to carry (reality is I did 6 stair climbs followed by hill climbs at Alex Headlands last week and 10kgs is not easy)
• 25km’s a day won’t be too bad as I have all day
I know Melinda told me (when we were developing the training plan) that I should pack for snow. But my naivety replied ‘I’ll be walking so a just a warm jacket should suffice’ – apparently not.
I met some people this morning whilst walking at Point Cartwright (see I am doing some training), who will also be walking the Camino this year, starting 2 weeks after me. Now these people are super fit, think ex footballer and now personal trainer. They are planning to take 5 days longer than I am to walk it and they were saying it would not being easy…
I think I better go and keep up my walking training not a day to miss. As like I would in business it is not time to give up but time to reassess and keep going with my new found reality.
